Take a tag off the tree.
Every tag on the tree is one child who registered with us in October. The tag tells you their age, their sizes and a short wish list, never their name. Take one, shop the list, and bring the unwrapped gifts back by December 12.
How to take a tag
Come by the tree
The tree goes up at the end of November at our host location. Pick a tag off it and sign the sheet beside it, so we know that child is spoken for. [Placeholder: host location and the hours it's open.]
Shop the list
Buy what you can from the wish list. Nobody expects every line of it. Clothes in the sizes printed on the tag are always needed, and always welcome.
Bring the gifts back
Unwrapped, with the tag number attached, to any drop-off location by December 12. Families collect them at the pick-up event the week before Christmas.
A few things that help
- Leave the gifts unwrapped. We check each bag against its tag before it goes out, and families wrap them at home.
- Keep the tag number on the bag. It is the only thing connecting the gifts to the right child.
- December 12 is the real deadline. Anything later misses the sort, and we can't promise it reaches a family by Christmas.
- Gift receipts are welcome. Sizes are guesses more often than anyone would like.
- If you can't get to the tree, call us or send a note, and we'll match you to a child and hold the tag for you.
Every tag stays private
Registration is private, pick-up is quiet, and no child ever learns whose tag they were. A tag carries an age, sizes and a wish list, and nothing that identifies a family. That is the whole point of doing it this way.
Businesses and churches often take several tags from the same family, or cover a family outright. Tell us how many children you can take and we'll set the tags aside for you.
